Trusted Builder Group

!!!This doesn't affect the server as it is right now (the temporary map with no plugins, since the 1.5 update Notch put out), it'll be working on the 'old' map everyone knows!!!


To promote some people that really help me out and make nice buildings that make really nice buildings, I made a new group. What those people will get is that they'll have a bigger lot and go to a, possibly, nice part of the city. This is because I want to reward people that may not wanna buy VIP. I think I'll add 1-3 new commands to that group, but nothing major though, since I want VIP to have all these 'special' features. 

Off topic:

People wondering why they get teleported back when they try to fly, I disabled it. Only VIP and higher ranks (vmod, admins, moderators) can use the Flymod. If you fly it'll be reported to admins (and soon also moderators), and if the user does not follow the instructions of NOT flying, they'll possibly get banned. 
Any problems when you try to fly when you're VIP, talk to me when I'm online. Or send me a message on twitter (wp647) with your username and I'll get back to you asap.

Temporary Map

Since the 1.5 update Notch has put out, every plugin will be corrupted for a few more days. That's why I started a temporary map which is running only a chest protection plugin (ask members to how this plugin works).

As soon as most plugins are updated I'll get the old map back and get the server running as it always has.

VIP (renewed)

I got some suggestions about what I should do with VIP. Now I decided to make VIP $5 every 2 months. And $15 for permanent VIP!

Advantages of VIP (this are just the added options. Standard commands are not included):

Old map finally working with 1.4

Some of you may not have understand why I had a temporary map with no plugins on my server. The reason as that when Notch updates 1.4, the plugins have to be recoded with Notch's new API system. The plugin that prevents fire from doing any damage (tested old map without the plugin, no houses within 30 min was the result) took a bit long to update.

Now finally today I got the plugin (which is still in beta) working. As I promised, I was gonna do a huge opening party. Since I had downtime a day ago and 25 slots, I though it was gonna be hard to get the server full. But instead it only took, literally, 1 minute (!) to get the server filled up with 25 people. 25 people in 1 minute. I was doing lots of typing adding people to the builders group. It really was a awesome day.

Now in the morning I'll do some plugin fixes and try to get my née website up (more about the website on this blog, tomorrow).

Server Status Update

Since we have the temporary map, I'm still waiting for the final two plugins to finish the update. Once that's done, I'll 'update' to the old world and get all old plugins and settings back.

Also it seems that there's a bit of downtime now. Don't think it'll take too long though for the node to go back up.

Server News and Server Update

As some of you may know, we started a new temporary world with NO plugins. This because most (important) plugins haven't updated yet, and I didn't wanted to keep the version running for the few people that were still on 1.3. I hope that I can get the 'old' world (the one everyone is familiar with) back and running with the plugins asap.

Also I upgraded the server with more slots once again. To 25 slots this time. This will mean that I'll have 3 weeks of 25 slots, since I 'overwrote' my previous order. I hope I get around $10 of donations in 2 weeks, because then I can assure you that I'll stay on 25 slots (or more!) for the next month.

So once I can update everything again, I'll have a HUGE opening party. I do need your help; which means that I want you to invite people and fill those 25-27 slots.

Minecraft Account Problems SOLVED!

As some of you may know, I had problems with my account. Thereby I was forced to use a cracked version of Minecraft. I gave myself the username 'David'. Since the problems are solved now I'll be in the server with the username 'CyberSick99'. I'm wearing a skin with a big 'A' on the back, which stands for admin.


Also, today I'll update the servers, pacific times. I want 1 of the most important plugins, which prevents the whole town from burning, to be updated and working on Bukkit Build 602, since that's the Bukkit version I'm gonna be updating to.

Update to 1.4

Gonna be upgrading to 1.4 tomorrow. Will have a big 'opening' party with people. Join in if you want to. I'll post more information on this Blogspot!


I tried updating to 1.4 today, but found out that it's not a good idea at this moment. That since the plugin that prevends fire from fucking up things is not updated yet. I don't think it'll take more then 2 days though.

Reports of Lag

I've been getting some reports of lag since I upgraded to a newer more stable Bukkit build. Now I don't know if it has to do with Bukkit itself or with the plugins. I do wanna say that I didn't add any plugins but just updated them.

Once I'm back home, I'll download the latest version of Bukkit, update the servers, then check if all plugins still work and after that check if there are any differences. I do like to have a few people that can help me with that by joining and reporting back about if you think the lag is gone and/or less.

Getting more mods

This and next week I'll be searching for some new people that want to be mods. Now don't join my server and ask for mod right away. Infact, don't ask for it at all. I'll just take this and next week to select a few people that I trust, enough, to be a moderator. I'll give them a quick tutorial on how to find griefers and tell them all the commands they can use and how thy should handle certain situations.

People having VIP membership right now, or in the future, have a far greater chance of getting moderator status over the Builders group.

No more waiting for builder

I'm sure some of you had to wait for me to come online when you first joined, to add you to the builders group.
Now this waiting is over. I managed to get a plugin working that can add people to the builders group with a single command. Also I can add new permissions with a single command (normally I'd go in the FTP of the server, edit the users file, reupload it and then use a command to recache the permissions users file).

Now sometimes you still have to wait, but that is only in the case if there's no admin (underwater_fire, Tom, tusken or me) is online. Also I'm able to add people to the builders with a command in the console, meaning that I can add people to the builders from my iPhone (!). So if there's no admin online, ask 1 of the members to contact me on Skype and I'll make sure you don't have to wait for so long.

Updated the Server

I updated the server software today. This means there'll be some errors and some things may not work. I now shut down the server till I set borders for the world since it was getting too big.

Hope you guys understand. Will try to keep it up and running within 1 hour.

Information about griefers

'FUCK I HATE THIS SERVER, SOME GRIEFED MY B
HOUSE'. That may be a common reaction when someone grieved your house. But no worries with this server. The server is running a plugin allowing to check who placed what block and/or who destroyed a block. After someone griefed someones house, I'll identify the griefer, give a IP ban, rollback everything the griefer did and putting him on the 'Griefers wall of shame'!

Server reached 250+ registered members

The server reached 254 registered members yesterday. Considering I had 20 registered on Saturday morning means that I got myself 220 more registrations in 2 says.

Although it's just a number and 250 registrations doesn't mean that there are 250 people playing on the server regulary , it is a fact that there are a 100 builders and, I think, more then 100 lots taken.

I'd say keep on the growing.
And I got some replies saying that I only care about money. Well, I'd say that's not true. The only thing I do keep in mind is that, the more people that buy VIP the more slots I'll be able to buy for the server. And also everybody that has bought VIP so far really seemed to enjoy it.
And remember. If you don't want VIP, then don't do it. If you would like to try it, just do it for a month and see if you think it's worth it (+ plus that you help out the server).

BestCrafting now has it's own YouTube channel!

Today I made a new YouTube channel for the, in my opinion, quickly growing server, BestCraft (reason why I used BestCrafting, is because the name 'Bestcraft' is taken on some sites). On this channel me and people from the VIP/Admin group will post videos on the channel.

Now I also heard about YouTube livestreaming (!) today, although I'm not sure if that's true. I'll consider doing livestreams only if people really want it and if there are actually going to people that'll be watching.

I'll post some commentaries this week and hope you guys enjoy it!

VIPs are allowed to:

-Yellow prefix saying 'VIP' (i.e. [VIP] <TestPerson> Hi)
-Use a flymod (since a flymod is clientside, I'm going to install a plugin as soon as possible that prevend non-vip and/or non-admin to use mods like that)
-Abiltity to spawn ANY items you want, making you not wanna go in suicidal missions where you go in a cave searching for rare stuff
-Bigger chance of getting part of the staff
-More priority over other members (for example in a urgent situation)
-Ability to submit videos on our (soon to be created) YouTube channel)
-Ability not to only tp to warps, but also setwarps (with the /setwarp <Name> command
-Ability to use a superpickaxe (which makes you break blocks with only 1 click)
-Free joining of our (awesome) giveaways
-Ability to teleport to players or teleport people to you
-Ability to use /j to jump to the block you're aiming at

Daily Updates

In the 'Daily Updates' I'll keep you guys updated on what I plan on doing today.

For today I want to work on the /sethome command.
I also plan on getting more members in today + installing a anti-cheat program to prevent non-admins and non-VIPs to use client side mods which are not allowed. This to make the option to be VIP and therefore being allowed to use a fly mod, more attractive.


Here a few advantages of being a VIP member (more things can be added as to be suggested):

-Allowed to use Flymod
-Can spawn items
-Tp to a players and teleport players to you
-Jail bad people (considered allowing /ban, but that would result in missuse)
-Bigger chance of becoming a part of the staff
-Allowed to post videos on the BestCrafting YouTube channel which will be made later
-More priority for certain problems (since I can't be with my community 24/7 I'll give more priority to people that are VIP members
-Automaticly in free giveaways


!!!Even when you're a VIP/Admin/Moderator or Builder, and you grief, you'll get a perma (IP) ban! Since I use a nice tool to detect who build/destroyed what, and being able to rollback EVERYTHING (rolling back everything from a griefer is standard procedure) griefers aren't a big problem. It's only temporarily!

Since I posted my server on the Minecraft forum, I was able to fill my server with new members pretty quickly and easily. Now some of you may not like that 'strange' people play on the server, but then I'm sorry since I didn't buy my server for it to be friends only.

What I do on a daily basis is asking people to give feedback on the up and downsides of the server. I really appreciate every compliment you guys make and I do keep that in mind.

Some of you might be think 'David only wants money from us'. Well, I'd say that its not true. What I do is asking people if they have a interest in becoming a VIP member and paying $5 for a month of VIP. People were like 'IS IT MONTHLY?' And, unfortunately it is. Keep in mind that I'm only 15 years old and having a iPhone contract too which makes me dependent on the donations IF this is going to stay a 17-20. The positive side of that is that; the more donations I get, the faster I can upgrade to more slots on the server. (Got offered a deal from the host where I can get a 50 slot server for around $50).

We're going to be updating

Hi,

As some of you may know, my server has been expanding quickly. Because of all the donations I was able to update from a 6 to a 17 slot server. Meaning that there'll be way more people connected. I'll list the server at sites like minecraft.dk & mcserverlist.net. This means more people will be joining, but not with building rights from the start.

Monday the server will really start, since there were a few problems with the server so far. If there's anything then please talk to me when on the server or e-mail david_moekotte@hotmail.com about anything you want to ask.

Also, I'm sorry for the loss we had. At first we had a big world, but due to some douchebag, it was filled with water, making the server go crazy. Now if you play on the old server (96.44.188.101), then please don't build anything special. This is because the new server is going to start a new world too. So we can start all over again. Before I'll open my server to the public, I'll make sure that there'll be lots and a few roads.

The IP of the new server will be broadcasted on the old server, or just contact me on Skype and/or MSN!
